Wa

While Winneba may not be the top tourist spot, it has some lovely beaches where you can take a break during your journey to Cape Coast. These beaches are perfect for a day or two of relaxation and camping.
Obuasi
Obuasi, a city in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, is known for its gold mining industry. People say it’s like a gold mine because they have so much of it there.
All this gold has brought many people to Obuasi, and now there are around 180,334 people living in the city. So, it’s a pretty interesting place with its shiny streets and golden reputation.
Obuasi is a city that welcomes tourists with its cultural sites, markets, and historical landmarks. When you visit, you’ll have the chance to discover the local culture and history.
Kintampo
The next on my list of top cities in Ghana is Kintampo. Kintampo is in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana and it is one of the top cities in Ghana when it come to tourism.
Kintampo has lots of cool things to see for tourists. There’s the awesome Kintampo Waterfalls and some beautiful spots to check out. You can go and see all the amazing natural stuff in the area and have fun doing outdoor activities.
Kintampo has some schools, and one of them is the College of Health and Well-Being. This college helps the region grow smarter by giving people a good education.
Mankessim
Mankessim is a town in Ghana’s Central Region. It’s not too far from Accra, about 85 kilometers to the west, along the main Sekondi-Takoradi road. This town holds special importance for Ghana’s Fante people, as it’s their traditional headquarters.
Mankessim’s history is closely linked to three renowned warriors: Obrumankoma, Odapagyan, and Oson. These heroes played a crucial role in helping people move from Takyiman, which is now part of the Brong Ahafo region, to Adoagyir in the Central region.
Mankessim boasts a bustling market that attracts traders from all corners of Ghana.
The town has a long-standing tradition of Asafo companies. These are historical organizations focused on protection and defense, and they have been a part of the town’s life for many years.
Wenchi
Wenchi, a town in the middle of Ghana, is the capital of the Wenchi Municipal area in the Bono Region. It’s situated at 56 kilometers away from Sunyani, 29 kilometers from Techiman Wenchi and about 50 kilometers to the east of the Ivory Coast border.
With Wenchi being strategically located near Techiman, it makes it closer to a major national market.

Konongo
Konongo, a town in Ghana’s Ashanti region, has around 41,238 people living there. It’s considered one of the big cities in Ghana. Konongo is known for its gold mining activities, and it’s been a busy place for a long time. Even back in the days before the 1950s, it was a lively and bustling city.
As time went on, Konongo became the commercial center for the Kumasi East Council and later became part of the Asante-Akyem District. British companies ran gold mines in this area, and this attracted people from various West African countries and different ethnic groups. They all came seeking opportunities in the gold mines.
Hohoe
Ome of the major cities in Ghana is Hohoe. It is the capital of the Hohoe Municipal, a district in Ghana and located in the Volta Region.
The district was created from the former Kpando District through a Legislative Instrument (L.I. 2072) in 2012. This district covers an area of 1,172 square kilometers, which is about 5.6% of the entire region.
Hohoe Municipality has great potential. It can boost its economy and contribute significantly to the country’s GDP, if given the opportunity.
The area is known for its stunning natural beauty and eco-tourism spots, making it a top choice for tourists in Ghana.
Tarkwa
Tarkwa is one of the mining cities in Ghana. It’s about 120 miles (190 km) west of the capital city, Accra. Tarkwa is famous for gold mining because there’s a lot of gold in this area. It’s part of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal District, which is where most of the mining happens.
But Tarkwa isn’t just about mining. It’s a great place for tourists too. You can explore the beautiful nature and culture of the region. While I don’t have specific places for you to visit here, you’ll likely find lots of things to do that showcase the local culture and the natural beauty around the city.
Yendi
Yendi, in Ghana’s Northern Region, is where the Yendi Municipal District’s main hub is located. It’s known for being the home of the Dagombas’ top leader. In 2012, about 52,008 people lived there.
One special thing about Yendi is its Gonja cloth. This unique fabric is used to create the traditional men’s smock. We can even stop by and meet the talented weavers who craft these famous strips. They’ll show us how they weave these remarkable designs.
